Leonard W. Robertson

ROBERTSON, Leonard W., 94, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Inn at Wyngate.

He was born on July 6, 1919, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Clifford and Rella Lewis Robertson.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris Marie Mentzer Robertson, four brothers, Leverne, Wayne, Wilbert and Delbert Robertson; a sister Gwendolyn E. Caldwell and three sister-in-laws, Beverly Hinchee, Betty Furguson and Rita Mentzer.

Mr. Robertson was an electrician for over 30 years with Weirton Steel Corporation where he was a turn foreman and worked in the Steel Works Electrical Control Shop. He was a P.O.W. of World War II who served in the US Army Infantry and was awarded a Purple Heart for his efforts. He was a member of the Weirton Masonic Lodge 171, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry 32 Degree, Osiris Shrine of Wheeling, Three Score Seniors and the WSX 25-Year Club.

He is survived by a son, Thomas "TR" Robertson of Weirton; a sister-in-law, Georgette Henry (Delbert) of Pittsburgh, PA; two brother-in-laws, Robert Hinchee and Donald Mentzer both of Weirton and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
