Fugitive caught wearing monitor

STEUBENVILLE - A Weirton man wanted by the Brooke County Sheriff's Department for violating home confinement was still wearing his ankle monitor when he was caught Thursday by City Police.

Officers were checking the area of Welday Avenue for Eric Bee, 32, of 114 Columbus Way, Weirton, when he was seen, police reported. Bee took off running and was caught by officers near Cleveland Avenue, police reported.

Bee initially gave officers a different name but admitted his identity when police heard Bee's leg monitor beeping, police reported.

Bee was charged with fugitive from justice, falsification and obstructing official business.

Two arrested trying to steal copper pipes

STEUBENVILLE - A man and a juvenile were arrested Thursday by City Police trying to steal copper piping from a vacant house in the 500 block of South Fourth Street.

Officers went to the house around 10:15 a.m. Thursday and heard pounding from inside, police reported. A man, identified as Joseph W. Boyer, 24, of 1321 Plum St., and a juvenile were taken into custody.

Officers reported finding tools used to cut piping.

The juvenile was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of criminal tools. Boyer was charged with criminal trespass.
