Jefferson County

sheriff

Arrested: Richard Desimone, 53, Lot 57, 28 township Road 281, bench warrant, Friday.

Breaking and entering: A business on Maplewood Drive in Wintersville was broken into Friday night, and the cash register as well as a desk had been disturbed. The owners of the business reported that this is not the first time someone broke in, so they never leave more than spare change in the register. Only a few dollars were taken, and police found footprints in the snow nearby that looked similar to those found at the scene of a break-in in Mingo Junction on the same evening. The Mingo Junction business was entered through the back door near a fire escape, and the door was damaged. About $465 was missing from a juke box, and the bill changer from the jukebox was smashed. Police found footprints nearby, and witnesses reported a suspicious vehicle parked in the area at the time of the break-in.

Ohio State Highway Patrol

Arrested: Steven Ray Vanhorn, 34, 998 township Road 204, Bloomingdale, no plate light, improper handling of a firearm, Friday.
